Sadly for some, disclosure of sexual orientation and/or gender identity can result in judgement from family, friends and church.

Though my disclosure was about being transsexual and that I was in the process of making changes, I had not yet come to the place where I felt I could transition and still did not know when I would finally take that step. At the time, my dad was 89 and my mom 83 and I feared my disclosure would make the few remaining years of their lives more difficult. I also had not disclosed to our adult sons either, but I had already shared with many of my friends—including my pastor. Though I was loved and affirmed by all with whom I had shared, I knew I would not be able to transition until I shared with my parents, or I would have to wait until they both died. Could I wait another five to ten years to transition? One day I was thinking about my sons and I was praying to God if any of them had some issue they needed to tell me about, that they would never fear that I would reject them and condemn them for it, regardless of what that issue might be. How sad would that be, that they would fear co...

Tea Party Member, Alan Caruba, his perspective on same sex families shows how far apart the two sides are.

In his Saturday, June 25, 2001 blog post at Warning Signs  blog, Alan Caruba made the following statement. By most indications it is a nation in its death throes. Its original values and virtues are being jettisoned and that is always a sign of internal rot. The passage of a law legalizing gay, same-sex marriage in New York State is just one example. It becomes the sixth State to do so.   Families are regarded as the keystone to a healthy society. When they begin to disintegrate or are redefined as same-sex, most observers conclude that a range of social problems will ensue.   The Census Bureau recently announced tha t  married couples no longer head a majority of families  in the United States. They now represent only 48% of households, based on data from the 2010 census. It is the first time this has ever occurred. Mr. Caruba is not the first to use such alarmist language to declare the end of American society, thanks to its degeneration and slide i...

http://www.edmontonjournal.com/opinion/Gays+also+share+Christian+beliefs/5015311/story.html Re: "Not all Christians share same beliefs,"  by Ken Albinger, Letters, June 24. Principal Ken Albinger has stated with eloquence and kindness the position of the King of Kings Lutheran Christian school in his response to the Edmonton public school board's decision to formulate a policy to address lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) issues. Our society is founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Our society is not based on the literal words of the Bible, but on the principles. We do not live only on the foundation or in the basement of a home, but rather, we build upwards toward a brighter level. Some people consider the Bible a hunting license as they proof-text to justify their fears and hide their ignorance while persecuting others. Some embrace the Bible as if it were an immunity idol on a reality television show. Ironically, idolatry is a gra...

Uganda's Cabinet Wants the AntiGay Bill Withdrawn!

Let's hope these are the news we have been waiting for. Could it be that David Bahati's hand has finally been forced to drop his controversial bill? Uganda's 8th Parliament has about one month of life left before its session ends and the 9th Parliament begins its mandate. In the past, David Bahati has stated that he is determined to see these laws passes to "protect Ugandan children from being recruited into the homosexual lifestyle. The Monitor's Sheila Naturinda reported the following: Wednesday, April 13 2011 at 00:00 A Cabinet sub-committee formed to study the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2010 and report back to Cabinet, yesterday added a spin into the Bill and called for its withdrawal. In a closed-door meeting with Mr David Bahati, the mover of the Bill, the sub-committee said some of the penalties proposed in the Bill could be catered for by the Penal Code Act and the yet-to-come Sexual Offences Bill. Sources, who attended the meeting, said the sub-comm...

Hey, if I pay you big bucks, will you become gay? Isn't this a stupid question?

This is what the anti-gay forces in Uganda want you to believe, that 'minority groups' are recruiting students to be gay by paying them 800,000 Ugandan Shillings ($340). Here is how a tabloid in Uganda reported it on April 6, 2011: Makerere students paid Shs800,000 to join homos Published on April 6, 2011 by  The Razor Newspaper     It may sound bizarre, but Makerere University students are being lured into homosexuality by minority groups. Parliament heard yesterday that they are being paid an attractive monthly allowance of Shs800,000. Derrick Waiswa, a student leader at Makekere University, yesterday petitioned Legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee chairman Stephen Tashobya in his office at Parliament demanding that the House expedite debating the Homosexuality Bill 2009 so that it is passed into law to save the situation. “Mr Chairman, I am a concerned Ugandan citizen because I know that, in the near future, I will become a parent and I am worried that m...

I Googled it but gave up trying to find the author of this quote sent to me by a friend.

I would have given the person credit. Honest. Beautiful Quotes If you are right then there is no need to get angry And if you are wrong then you don't have any right to get angry. Patience with family is love, Patience with others is respect, Patience with self is confidence, and Patience with GOD is faith. Never Think Hard about the PAST, It brings Tears... Don't Think more about FUTURE, It brings Fears... Live this Moment with a Smile, It brings Cheers! Every test in our life makes us bitter or better, Every problem comes to us either makes us or breaks us, Choice is ours whether we become victim or victorious! Search a beautiful heart not a beautiful face. Beautiful things are not always good but good things are always beautiful.

When Christ was Gay by Brian Elroy McKinley

What many Christians seem to forget   When Christians pour their judgment on homosexual men and women, they do nothing less than make a mockery of their own savior, Jesus Christ. The grace they are willing to accept as followers of Christ is suddenly not good enough to extend to those they find offensive. It's a double standard, based not in biblical truth but in fear and the desire for control. To understand this, we must understand what Christians believe, and how their beliefs are being subverted from living in love to the canonizing of condemnation... CLICK RED TEXT FOR MORE

"God has better for you."

My response to this week's "Pray The Gay Away?" episode from "Our America with Lisa Ling" The sentiment "God has better for you," which was repeated often by the ex-gay side is disingenuous, and cruel at best. God may have had better for all of us in the beginning, but we now live in a broken world. People are born missing limbs, blind, with holes in the heart, underdeveloped spinal chords, deaf, with syndromes that are incurable and brains that will never function the way God originally intended. In the past, these conditions were regarded as a curse and as evidence of sin and deemed to make the person unclean and unequal by some cultures, and babies were allowed to die. In very recent history, in rural China, where if the firstborn was not a boy, newborn baby girls were placed in a boiling pot of water and a lid place over it to indicate a child had not been born. None of these children ever chose to be born with missing parts or irreparable bo...

A friend's post has generated a heated discussion with anti-gay Ugandans

A young Ugandan woman's comments, Prossie,  are representative of their homophobic, anti-gay way of thinking. Prossie: Reading this post, i just realised that this is basically a black Vs the self-procliamed superior white men who are descendants of Ethiopia. Now, i ABSOLUTELY HATE HOMOSEXUALITY! Secondly, i absolutely hate the idea of anyone killing a criminal for wateva reason it may be, be it robbery, murder or homosexuality. I, think,(which is my personal view and not subject to change forever and ever) that they need help and therapy to discover that it is ADAM and Eve and not ADAM and STEVE but not to kill them. And if a gay person hit on me, Hell knows what i would have done to him bse my bum is an exit and will never be an entrance for anything! Prossie, you seem like an intelligent young woman, but the Adam and Steve thing, that is getting a bit tired from over-use, it is not even clever. Set that argument aside and consider what Jesus said in Matthew 19:11-12 concernin...

For the Love of Christ

Thanks to Cindy Hadden for priming the pump on this.  facebook.com/artistcindy From the beginning — gays have been pushed to the outside of the gates in every culture (with the exception of a few). They WERE very well KNOWN in Jesus's day. In fact, it may be entirely possible that the Centurion who came to Jesus, asking him to "heal" his "servant" at "home" may have been the soldier's "partner." Homosexuality was widespread in the Roman army; in fact, soldiers away from wives and homes for long periods of time used their servants to relieve themselves sexually. And yet — Jesus treated them equally, and DID NOT single them out as an example of sin, nor did he do that to prostitutes and women of ill repute. There is also speculation that the convert Paul (who is credited with writing three of the six clobber verses in the Bible that are used to justify anti-gay theology) was very "in tune" with gay culture of his time, maybe h...

Sometimes I feel like I need to say something

Ashley Love's Facebook page A woman said today that the medical condition transsexualism has been misrepresented & co-opted cuz of: Capitalism. Misgendering "campy drag images" cater to the lucrative gay male market more (Gay Male Hollywood own our images), & the "cross dresser, married w/ kids, or late transitioning narrative" is more sensational, drawing viewers. Hypersexualized/over the top images sell in this consumer culture/man's world. Lisa Salazar  As one having a "late transitioning narrative," let me tell you that there is nothing sensational about it. If there is anything scandalous that should draw anybody's attention is that some people have an issue with it. Had I been able to u nderstand what and who I was as a young person and had the medical understanding been then as it is today, my life might have turned out very different. The plain truth is that I knew more what I wasn't than what I was. The stereotyp...

More Thoughts on Luke's Account of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch

Here is something I was thinking about the other day. It was in regards to Luke's account of the Ethiopian eunuch. First, I am more and more fascinated that Luke, a physician, is the one who wrote about Philip's encounter with this sexually other person. Could it be that in his years of practice, he had faced the difficult task of helping parents make sense of a child born with ambiguous genitalia? Where there cultural, religious and social complexities that he understood with a more enlightened frame of reference? Who knows, but something to think about. Then there is the issue of how it was that this person's 'abnormal' sexuality was known in the first place. We don't know how Luke found that out. We can surmise that Philip must have shared this incredible event with others, including Luke. So then, we need to ask, how did Philip find out that this person was a eunuch? It is not as if this person went around with a sign across his forehead that said 'e...
